On Learning How to Sing
30 days of my bad voice and singing lessons documented [Live #13]
Honestly this was something that I always wanted to learn to do but because of that, it was also something I was always running away from. I run away from the things that I want the most; yes that's me. But yeah this spring break, I have time, I am free and if I wanna later learn to play the guitar... or piano (honestly whichever's easier) so I was like I might as well... and then I'm like I might as well document the whole journey and let people enjoy my embarrassment. So here we are...
*also it's gonna be mostly bollywood songs... so the english audience
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
yeah...
[Updated Daily]
Day 1 - Khamoshiyan
Day 1! Super excited. Absolutely hate hearing my voice in recordings. Lessgo!
Day 2 - Chahun Mai Ya Naa
So apparently I need to get in the habit of recording singing the songs I love as my hw for the next two days.
And yes I did burp somewhere around in the rec... idk why but I just have this weird urge to burp everytime I record myself singing and the more I try to control it, the more i want to, and the more I just want to burst out laughing midway through as all my mind is thinking while I'm trying to hit the notes is "DO NOT BURP KAY! DO NOT BURP". im so weird.
Day 3 - Co2
I remember my dad pronounces the guy's name in such a funny way it annoys my sister so much. It's actually so hard to nail this guy's voice tho. I tried to google how to sing like him. Not helpful.
Yk how you can't sometimes say what you want to say, and so you send a song? Yeah, I never did send this song to her...
Day 4 - Har Kisi Ko
Day 5 - Ode To The Mets
Drums please, Fab?
I'm still shying away from hitting the screaming part "Yeah I'm under his thumb..." But apart from that I think I was able to hit most of the notes with my morning voice.
Day 5 - A thousand years
13th reason why.
Day 6 - Tujhse Naraz Nahi Zindagi
This song's cover was the very first thing that introduced me to Sanam. Oh man, this band is the only music thing where me & my dad match and both fw. Family car trips... there HAS to be a Sanam song on that playlist.
Day 7 - No
so my english teacher (who’s a very avid reader of my blog btw; shoutout to her) recently told me that I APPARENTLY don’t know how to pronounce “no” correctly. yes... apparently that's a thing.
ow well never knew the meaning of the word, can't be too surprised I don't know how to pronounce it right?
that good enough for you miss?
Day 8 - Paro
I can't decide if I sound drunk or sexy in my morning voice
Day 9 - Yeh Raten Yeh Mausam
Onset of monsoon. That 2am random long drive in the night with someone. Crazy rain. Crazy wind. The only small stall open at that time we could find. Selling chai-pakaudi and that song was playing in the background.
Day 10 - Brick
This song. Marc was on the keys at that piano bar. I was telling him about it all and he was like "you will like this next song..." that's how I came across it.
Just as a side note: brilliant taste Marc has in music.
Day 11 - Kaun Tujhe
I've been told to practice this one for my next lesson.
This was not the first take. This was the least embarrassing take I was finally ok with uploading
Day 12 - Tujhe sochta hoon
I still don't think im getting the aaAAaaAA right
sochta to bahut hoon par karta kuch nahi...
Day 13 - Kaun Tujhe
I think im getting the aaAAaaAA's right here
Day 14 - Ik Kudi
Ye Arpit bhai sahi bolte the yaar. Ye kaleja chashni bheja full fry wali aurton se door rehna chaihye. Mental health ki maa behan na kardi to batana.
