On One Step At A Time
when you think you can’t look at the entire mountain you're about to climb.
If you look around to find meaning in everything that happens, you will end up disappointed. Sometimes there aren’t reasons behind the terrible things that go on. I ask myself, If I knew all the answers, would it help? I lie awake and wonder why I [REDACTED] and wonder what will become of my sister and me. But when the morning comes, I realise that there’s nothing to be done about what has already happened. I can only get up and do my chores and push through the day and find the good in it.
Just take one step every day when you think you can’t look at the entire mountain you're about to climb. Just find where you're going to put your foot next. It doesn't need to be complicated, it's easy to get overwhelmed. But if you just think just one step today and I'm done. It makes things a whole lot easier and if you still need a little bit of extra motivation just remember that the pain of doing nothing will always be worse than the pain of doing something cuz sure taking steps can be uncomfortable and intimidating and scary but it will will always be better than the alternative: the slow never ending subconscious discomfort of remaining dormant will always be worse than the temporary and voluntary discomfort of making a change. Maybe some days you’re not feeling it. But you remind yourself, one small step today ok? Could be as small as making your bed or doing one more rep... and before you know it, there ya go, you’re doing 10 reps again.
